Have you ever woken up, logged into your email and received a message that put a smile on your face from ear to ear? It doesn’t happen often but when it does it is a wonderful feeling, especially coming from one of The Social Chef Blog Subscribers.
When I started The Social Chef blog it was far more than just an opportunity to share my recipes and passion for culinary. For me it was the hope that someone would understand that my faith plays not only a central part of my life but that my faith drove me to this world of gastronomy with zeal. I also hoped it would perhaps influence others down the path of faith as well or perhaps give someone the direction they might be in need of.
I wasn’t sure how to blog or even if I would get people to visit The Social Chef blog. I knew nothing about technology, blogging, creating websites, how to get people to visit The Social Chef blog or especialy how to get visitors to subscribe and engage with me. While I have not been overly successful at that aspect of it I continue to do it because I love to share not only my story, but also my love for cooking.
Back in late April I received an email from a new subscriber who had Googled searching for a restaurant in which is all over my about page on The Social Chef blog. The subscriber was searching for a recipe from the Villa Virella of a pepper sauce he had while dining there years ago. Being I just so happen to have not only dined at this incredible restaurant but also where I learned to cook as well,
Ben was pleasantly surprised of my affiliation with this one of a kind culinary gem. He read my story and then realized I just might very well have what he was searching for.
A private email from a new Social Chef subscriber informing me of his anxious search for a pepper sauce from The Villa Virella where I first learned to cook was certainly something I enjoyed to receive. I had however just arrived in Athens, Greece for My BIG Fat Greek Culinary Tour and knew it would be several weeks until I returned. I made a vow to Ben
that as soon as I returned back to the states I would make this dish and share with him and others who enjoy pasta as much as he does. Well, I decided shortly after to stay an extra month and I didn’t want to disappoint Ben. I knew this recipe but not the exact measurements but as any food lover knows, rules are not made for the kitchen. So as you might expect I created this pepper sauce dish for Ben and all The Social Chef Blog Subscribers who so passionately engage with me and visit my blog.
Just a few days ago I sent Ben a private email notifying him that his recipe he requested had been created. A few days later to my delight I received a reply back from Ben with his appreciation. To my satisfaction it arrived just in time as he and his wife have their anniversary May 31st. I wish Ben and his wife a wonderful anniversary with many more to come. And Ben, thank you for your kind words…but this is what a food lover enjoys…to share all things fodder related. Even better that you and
I are able to share something, and that is a restaurant so unique that will forever be near and dear to my heart. Happy Anniversary my friend!!
